By Leo Ezekiel

Speaking to the gathering at the Banquet Hall of Sheraton Hotels and Suites, Ikeja, Lagos at the Platform Africa Continental Forum Lagos 2022 with the theme “Legislation and Business Survival in Africa: A Review of Nigeria’s 9th Parliament and Agenda For The 10th National Assembly Barr. Olajide Ologun pleasantly states that where there is love everything becomes better adding that God Himself have blessed Africa and mostly Nigeria with uncommon mineral resources and human development capital.

Speaking further to the audience Barr. Ologun the Vice President of Top Foundation and as well as Nigerian constitutional Lawyer states that the National Assembly which is made up with 109 members of the Red Chambers and the Green Chambers made up of 360 members have actually fared figuratively well in the 9th parliament of businesses of making functional laws for the land adding that the next crops of National Assembly members for the 10th parliament should pragmatically, objectively, effectively, efficiently and assiduously work hard with love so that the Nigeria Citizenry would feel the presence of dividends of democracy which are not largely provided to all and sundry presently.

Speaking again to the audience he states that the United Nations have reportedly informed the entire globe that the globally population has progressed to 8 billion peoples on the surface of the planet earth adding that Africa’s Population is standing at equivalent to 16.72 of global population and he also added that Africa has significant natural resources wealth.

According to the keynote speaker Barr. Ologun, he says that Africa is a home to World’s largest arable lands available with about 40% of global gold up to 90% of its generated revenues adding that the population of Nigeria is over 200 million persons with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) $441 Billion for the year ended 2021.

He says there are over 40 mineral resources in Nigeria including Oil and Gas, Limestone Marable, Gypsum, but, sadly, he noted that with all these God given free wealth to Nigeria, yet, indeed, alas! No fewer than 133 million of Nigerians are heavily living under mind boggling poverty lifestyle adding that about 63% of the Nigeria’s population are largely not earning up to $One USD per day.

He informs the gathering that Oil was first discovered in Oloribi in Rivers State in the year 1956 and in the year 1958 and 1965 she was properly admitted into the bodies of global oil producing nations adding that Nigeria should be the nation producing tyres in large quantities as she is blessed with abundance of rubber products here and there.

And, again, the Vice President of Top Foundation Barr. Ologun states that Africa does not lack resources, but, that very sadly Africa lack resourceful leaders adding that there are laws in Africa, but, again, very sadly these laws are not enforceable and he also added that because these laws are not legally applied that is the reason why Africa leaders are heavily corrupt. In wrapping up his well researched presentations the Nigerian Constitutional Lawyer Ologun says that wealth lies in men and that wealth is not money again.

He adduces that Africans live from Assets to Liability and thereby making her a looted continent. He postulated that Africa needs to be heavily guided by Awareness, Responsibility, Fortune, Industrialization, Conscientious-leadership and Accountability.

And, he closes that the Accountant General of the Federation was caught with over N80 billion, yet, the oaf is still walking the streets of nation freely. Speaking to the gathering with his welcome address the Team Leader of Platforms Africa Adeola Yusuf narrated to the audience how the platforms Africa came into being, stating on the 3rd March 2020 Covid-19 pandemic rattled the entire globe and that this gave rise to the formation of platforms Africa.

Although, Yusuf says that initially that many members now did think that Platform Africa came on board as scammers, but, over time, the members have now discovered that Platforms Africa came to advance the worthy cause of humanity generally.

He narrated the sad story a grandmother in kano who lost her son-in-law to the cold hands of Covid-19 and how the grandmother made frantic efforts to save the lives of her daughter and grand children from all well meaning Nigerians. He tells the audience that an ambulance was sent from Abuja to Kano, to evacuate the distressed affected citizenry because there was a riot in Kano devastating the peace of the land.

He states that the plate numbers of the said ambulance was also sent to them adducing that in life that monies do not matter largely, but, what matters largely is the impact on peoples life. Speaking to the audience through zoom Dr. Ayodele Oni made a powerful submission how the members of National Assembly should objectively function to bring the dividends of democracy to the citizenry.

The gathering witnessed the first panel session with the topic: Legislation in Africa: Comparing Notes Among Countries in the Continent: The Panelists are Mr. Francis Kokifse, top Government and Public Affairs Analyst, Accra, Ghana, Mr Bosire Japheth Ontiri, renowned Public Affairs Analyst and Journalist, Nairobi, Kenya, Stella Ahunnanya, P.H.D Soft Skill and Business Expert, New York, USA and the Moderator is Barr. And of a truth the panelists did not disappoint the gathering with their lucid and cerebral submissions of the subject matter discussed. Drs Oni and Ahunnaya submitted their view points to the audience through zoom and at the end of each panel session, questions and comments are fielded in for a clearer elucidations.
