The National Association of Pediatric Nurses, Lagos Zone
(NAPAN) has organized a-3 day Conference
at the Malaria Research Centre Hall of Lagos State
University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH)
Ikeja , Lagos State and the theme of the Conference is
``Attaining Sustainable Development Goals
(3X4),The Role of a Pediatric Nurses. The NANPAN Conference
has the Following Sub-Themes: The Effects of Economic Recession on Child`s
Health, The Role A Pediatric Nurses in Accessing Safe & Sufficient
Nutrition Food for Ages 0-5years.
Speaking Dr.
AYOADE ADEDOKUN, the Director of Clinical Services and Training (DCST) of
LASUTH represented the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LASUTH, Professor DAVID ANTHONY
ADWALE OKE who was unavoidably absent, because he too was at Sheraton Hotel and
Towers, Ikeja Lagos where he attended the cardiologists seminar and Dr.
ADEDOKUN advised the pediatric nurses to be hard working always, be friendly,
caring to all and sundry and he declared the NANPAN Conference opened to the Trinity.
Speaking Mrs. FELICITY UKOKO, Head of Midwifery Programs
of Well Being Foundation Africa (WBFA) stood in for Mrs. TOYIN SARAKI wife of
senate president Dr BUKOLA SARAKI. Mrs. UKOKO said that her Excellency Mrs.
SARAKI is really thankful to God almighty for giving her the graces to continue
to support health care system in Nigeria. Mrs. UKOKO said that Mrs. SARAKI started
her Non Government Organization (NGO) when she lost one of her twins babies and
even she narrowly escaped death 13 years ago and when she recovered she began
to champion the Well Being Foundation of Africa.
The head of programs Mrs. UKOKO said that her boss Mrs.
SARAKI has a deep love for children and mothers for this reason she is
constantly helping out whenever the need arises. Mrs. UKOKO said that Mrs.
SARAKI’s (NGO) is the only one employing midwives directly and carries out
delivery and post natal exercises. She said that Nigeria is working towards meeting
up with the MDGS of 2013 as increasing our breast feeding rate at least 50%.
The keynote address was delivered by OLAWIYI OLUBUKOLA
FWACN and of a truth she dies not disappoint the participants with her
scholarly delivery of her lecture where she took her time to give heavy elucidations
on the MDG of 3 and 4 as goal 3 is for good Health, wellness of life style
while goal 4 is Quality education for all mostly the female child. In concluding
the inspiring lecture, she said that between one hour of a new born baby, the
baby should be put to the breast, as big smiles, full stomach. There is nothing
better than seeing the smiling face of a happy, well fed child.
Speaking Dr. ELIZABETH DISU commended the keynote speaker
for a job well done where she said that attitudes have become one important way
of training and she advises the pediatric nurses to improve quality by
displaying good Altitudes always whether on duty or outside duty. She painfully
said that the conditions of pediatric nurses in Nigeria, Ethiopia and India
even as she said about those in war torn areas and she agrees that every new
born child needs to breath and she advised the pediatric nurses to undertake
online crocuses so as to improve themselves scholarly.
Miss Florence Etukudola of nestles golden morn as spoke
to the participants on the need of taking golden morn as breakfast because it
is not heavy and it is nutritious. In between the conference pediatric nurses
performed a very interesting drama of songs and dance which the Director of
Clinical Services and Training Dr Adedokun joined the pediatric nurse to dance
and he told them that because the pediatric nurses take care of children they
too look like children.
Ogochukwu Ayike presented a talk on protecting Nigerians
with cold chain guaranteed Tetatnus Toxoid Vaccine. The Emzor Pharmacist
Chireyere kellvin presented a talk on Emzeed for the children well being.
