Profession – Bishop Atilade
By Leo Ezekiel
Speaking as the President of the Council of Nigerian
Council of Physicians of Natural Medicine and National Alternative Medicine at
the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) Central
Business District (CBD) Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos Bishop Magnus Atilade told all
and sundry that he was arrested by some medical doctors in the year 1978 at his
office in Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos for practicing his profession.
He said that his spouse was one of magistrates
at the magistrate court and when the case was brought up that the magistrate
threw away the case for lack of evidence.
He told the fellows of the council and the new inductees that since 1978
he has been in the struggle to liberate their career and professions from
powers that they don’t wish to see them as practitioners of complementary
Alternative Medicine (CAM). He narrated
to the audience that time was when he loaned the sum of five thousand naira
only (N5,000.00) from his late beloved mother
to attend to the issues of their profession, but, the sad and painful
thing was that the loan was never paid back to his late mother and he said that
at one time he wanted to put the cash in his late mother’s grave but, that his
late mother appeared to him in a dream and told him not to worry of repayment
of that cash since the cash had solved the problems for which it was borrowed for.
He prayed that the good Lord should bless the soul of his mother
wherever she is.
The president of the
council of CAM graphically took the audience on memory lane of all the efforts
and struggles they had employed in the past so as to make sure the Federal
Ministry of Health and relevant agencies, do give recognition to them. He goaded the newly inductees to be
hardworking, honest and efficient as these factors would definitely bring the
best from them as practitioners of CAM.
He prayed for all and sundry that God of all creations shall continually
protect and provide all their needs in Christ Jesus.
Speaking to the audience professor Oshitelu
told the newly inductees to imbibe the spirit of hard work, honesty and
efficiency in their career and professions because these indices would
positively provide comfortability in all ramifications.
She told them to treat both the rich and poor
patients with uncommon care and love as they treat, but God cures. She narrated a touching story of a patient
she treated for 15years and that one day the same patient came to her hospital
and told her that he had a gift for her.
She said that the patient told her that all the drugs she had been
administering to him for 15 years because he was from a family who knew the
A.B.C of the ailment he was suffering from and that he had never taken any of
the drugs given to him.
Prof. Oshitelu
said the patient handed over all the drugs to her and the man left her
hospital. She said that till today she
had never seen the man again and conservely the patient turned out to be an
angel of God.
She said that she had really succeeded in her career and profession
in leaps and bounds. She advice that all
and sundry should have the fear of God and have respect for all patients that
come to their hospitals.

the flag flying high in the discharge of their duties as CAM practitioners. Speaking with journalists Dr Godwin Okonkwo

more of CAM practices.
