JESUS IS THE GREATEST TEACHER - PROF ESIOBU

Delivering the eight inaugural lecture of 2017/2018 academic session of University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos Professor Gladys ObianajuEsiobu, a Professor of Science Education (Specialist in Social Constructivism Teacher Education) adding that this is third of such inaugural lecture of Department of Science and Technology Education Faculty of Education, University of Lagos and the first inaugural lecture of the Department of Biology with the topic “Providential Options: Teachers and Students on Trial? at the JF Ade Ajayi Auditorium University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, the University of first choice and nations pride said that Jesus is the Greatest Teacher in the entire globe adding that Jesus used so many methods in discharging His teaching prowess adding that those methods are parables, stories, field work, arguments, silence and debate. Prof Esiobu said that there are teachers who are always in the habit of imparting knowledge to students adding that impartation of knowledge does not make the students to be great thinkers and productive.

Prof Esiobu said that teachers should be constructive at all times so that the teaching classroom should be interactive by both the teachers and students adding that the teachers are meant to learn from the students.

Prof Esiobu said that because the British Colonial Masters who colonized us as people were not trained teachers, therefore they were not able to teach early Nigerians who received knowledge from them adding that this is one of the reasons many students are afraid of science subjects like mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics etc. but she said that with the constructivism style of teaching students that the students assimilate ideations and all that easily and quickly adding that researches are shown that most teachers came to classroom or lecture halls prepared to be Lord of the programme without allowing the students opportunities to improve themselves for the future.

Prof Esiobu said that the Toyota organization came up an advertorial that shook the entire business world with Yaw-Shina-Yaw Kaina, Good Thinking, Good Product.

Prof Esiobu largely stressed the importance of Providential Options: Teachers and Students on Trial adding that where ignorance exists abuse is inevitable as she submitted that Pedagogue Concept Knowledge (PCK) of teaching is one of the best methods of teaching students to become problems solvers in the future. Prof Esiobu recommends that there should be conferences on science education so that unimaginable successes could be recorded by all the stakeholders.

Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline, the spouse of Prof Esiobu, Rev. Engr. Chris Esiobu said that he is really gladdened that God Himself has answered their prayers by the provision of good health, good intellects and all that which has enabled his wife to deliver this eight inaugural lecture of 2017/2018 academic session adding that his wife Obianagu has been tremendously a success story to him and his entire family.

Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline the General Overseer of Four Square Gospel Church Felix Meduoye said that the name of the Lord has to be blessed in all fronts because God Himself had enabled Prof Esiobu to deliver her lucid inaugural lecture to all and sundry adding that the Federal Government of Nigeria really got to do something positive and productive so that all the practitioners of education could be well taken care of and that there should be adequate provision of funds to carryouteducational researches.
