Our Mother Would
Have Been 92 Years Old Today- Otunba Olufemi Oduntan

Speaking with Iconblaze
Magazine online portal Otunba Olufemi Oduntan A 1962 set of Government College
Ibadan said his late mother Princess Olufunmilayo Oduntan would have been 92
years old if she were to be alive adding that his dearly beloved mother passed
on to eternal glory at a very tender age 38 years old leaving six children for
her husband to raise alone.
Otunba Oduntan
said they were four boys and two girls their late mother left behind adding
that all of them are alive after 54 long years their mother Princess Oduntan
painfully passed on from this earthly sojourn. He particularly gave thanks to
God Almighty for the uncommon graces He granted their father to have the
unimaginable wisdom, love patience to raise them up successfully.
Speaking further
Otunba Oduntan said that he hosted the Lagos branch Government College Ibadan
Old Boys Association Severally at this house adding that education should not be
left in the hands of the government alone, but, that there has to be Private
Partnership Participation(PPP) on education because is the greatest instrument
with which darkness are dismantled Otunba Oduntan said that Old Boys
Association national have come in at GCI to give back to the school what the
school herself gave to them adding that the present principal of GCI is an old
boy.
He said that this
year admission into college that they only admitted only 50 students because
they want to make learning very interesting to all stakeholders. Otunba Oduntan
said that he was very gladdened with the award he got from his old boys
association because according to him he said the award is a testament of his
invaluable contributions to the growth of the association. Speaking with
Iconblaze magazine online portal Jide Ladeinde chairman rebranded Eko miliki
dance band and also a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader for
Lagos State said that he was the one who groomed, mentored and packaged the
musician who played for Government College Ibadan 2018 Annual Luncheon and Merit
Award ceremony which took place at City Hall, Catholic Mission Street Lagos
Island. Chairman of rebranded Eko Miliki Dance Bands said that they have been
in music in the past before they saw the
importance of education and they all went back to school to study for higher
degrees programs adding that he was with the band that plays at the Cathedral
Church Marina Lagos.
The keynote
Speaker Ade Shonubi a 1973 January set of GCI and Managing Director of NIBSS
and also Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria the theme of his lectures
“Through The Looking Glass “ In delivering his thought provoking lectures he
said that the entire world is changing and that the change is all about
technology and people adding that the China language and Spanish language would
soon dominate all other languages globally because of high plug of building
technology.
He queried that
how do we know about ourselves in Nigeria as he concurs that data are very
important. Speaking to Old Boys association of various sets of Government
College Ibadan Shonubi said that there are about 100,000,000 adults in Nigeria
65% are men while 37% are women as 38% of all banks customers do largely live
in Lagos. And again he said that of these figures that 10% of residents in
Lagos are from Imo State adding that between 25-40 years old adults are doing
banking business while having accounts and carry out other sundry banking
transactions with banks.
Speaking further
the Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Shonubi said that there are
140,000,000 telephone lines in Nigeria and 90,000,000 of the phone lines are
owned by the bank customers adding that Lagos State and Ogun State are
benefitting mutually from each other economically and that Ekiti State is the
lowest of banking business indices. The key note speaker Shonubi said that he
is really grateful to God, his father whom he publicly acknowledged before the
very eyes of the audience and Government College Ibadan adding that GCI formed
him into what he is today.
He said that he
would forever be appreciative to GCI because she gave him the really principles
of life, but, the only regrets he would not forget in a hurry was the day he
was made to cut grass for one hour and he said that before the one hour expired
that his hands had all peeled and was heavily reddish. Speaking with Iconblaze
magazine online portal Dr Sina Fagbenro Bryon a 1970 set of Government College
Ibadan and also a presidential aspirant Kowa political party said that the
Independent National Electoral Commission is not
helping matters with aspirants who would love to have started their campaigns toga,
but very sadly inte officiates have notified that campaigns for 2019 general
elections would flag off come August 2018 adding the president Buhari and his All
Progressive congress (APC) have actually failed Nigerians in all ramifications.
Dr Fagbenro said that there are lots of hunger in the land, that the rate of
poverty in the land shot passed roof tops, that there are hopelessness everywhere
one goes in Nigeria.
He concurs that
PMB has not stemed the tide of Boko Haram and the Fulani Herdsmen gruesome
killings of children, women, aged people everywhere yet, PMB is behaving as if
nothing is happening. Speaking further at the venue he said that monies do play
a major role in life, but that ideas, wisdom and graces of God matter most
adding that if 20% of the youths should key into the manifesto of Kowa
Political Party that surely Kowa would be sworn in as the next ruling political
party at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja after 2019 general elections. He selected 12
winners of those who participated at the raffle draw.
