We Shall Overwhelm Them - Chief Engr. Onovo

Speaking at the Conference of Nigeria Political
Parties of South-West Chapter of 2018 summit with a theme “Rebuilding
Democratic Values in Nigeria” at the Airport Road Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. Chief
Engr. Martin Onovo said that they shall overwhelm All Progressives Congress
(All Promises Cancelled) APC with the strategies, plans, actions, executions
and implementations of high political permutations.
The radical
Presidential hopeful read out a well worded written text to the audience and in
the said text he held all and sundry spell bound as he critically touched on the
burning issues affecting all Nigerians.
He said that Late Professor Albert Chinua Achebe did
write in his book “The trouble with Nigeria” in the year 1984 where Late Prof.
Achebe said that the problem of Nigeria is leadership.
Speaking
again Chief Engr. Onovo said that this year 2018 former President H.E Chief (Dr.)
Olusegun Okekola Aremu Matthew Obasanjo in his recent public letters and
statements did write “Our non-
performance cannot be blamed on God
but on leadership” adding that all leading Nigerian ethical intellectuals
like Prof. Ben Nwabueze SAN and the Hon. Justice Mohammed Uwais agreed that the
problem of Nigeria is the leadership.
Speaking
further Chief Engr. Onovo says that all and sundry are involved in politics in
Nigeria as elected officials or candidates or aspirants or supporters are all
Nigerian Politicians adding that in every democracy, It is politicians that
call the shots and noting that the present Federal Government, with Nigerians
in the bondage of mass deceit, terrorism, poverty, corruption, mediocrity, crass
abuse of power, unemployment, high crime rate, lawlessness, electoral fraud for
example the just concluded Ekiti State Governorship Election July 14th,
2018 was characterized with electoral fraud of vote buying and see and buy
syndrome. The presidential hopeful said that Nigerians actually are yearning
for a new Nigeria adding that it is the duty of all patriotic politicians to
get a clear vision of Nigeria and do heavily ensure the realization of that
vision as he concurs that Warren Bennis noted that “Leadership is the capacity to turn vision into reality” .
Speaking to the gathering Chief Engr. Onovo said
that the attempt of the security operatives to scout the democracy as the
Mohammadu Buhari is a despotic leader who does not care of the fundamental
human rights of the citizens adding that the trap set to catch up with Dr.
Abubakar Bukola Saraki the Senate President of the 8th Senate of the
Federation was really despotic and jack-booted in nature.
The one time Presidential candidate in the 2015
general elections Chief Engr. Onovo concurs that the right leader all Nigerians
yearn for must be a new-breed, patriotic, ethical, visionary and competent
politician as it is the patriotic duty to ensure that the right leadership
comes in Nigeria this 2019 general elections adding that the citizens must
register to vote, evaluate all candidates, support and campaign for the right
candidates, vote and defend the vote.
Speaking to
the audience Otunba Abayomi Odunowo said that when he was growing up that there
was community parennting where every child did run errands for all and sundry
within the community.
But, however, he sadly said that the trend has
drastically changed from good to bad and from bad to worst, He said that in the
last 15 years he has been mentoring some youths so that they could be useful to
themselves and the entire society adding that love governs all.
He submitted
that the ruling party at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, All Progressives Congress (All
Promises Cancelled) APC has morally failed and disappointed Nigerians with her
bad leadership style.
He said that there is heavy hunger in the land as
poverty ravages the fabrics of the system. He narrates that in the year 1979 as
an undergraduate of University of Nigeria, (UNN) Nsukka, that his dearly
beloved mother bought him a brand New Honda Accord car for N9, 000 only as he
sadly said N9, 000 now may not be amply okay for him to entertain his friends
at a gig adding the current leadership of APC has killed the value of naira.
Otunba Odunowo publicly condemned the ugly incident
that happened at NASS on Tuesday 24th July 2018 where the security
operatives wanted to humiliate the senate president Dr. Saraki publicly adding
that APC has actually destroyed all the tenets of democratic values.
Otunba Odunowo further told the audience that when
he was to marry his lovable spouse a serious problem emanated because of their
religious backgrounds saying that he is a Muslim while his spouse is a
Christian adding that his own parents wanted an Islamic marriage while his
in-laws also wished for church wedding, but, however, he said that he parlayed
with spouse and both of them concurred on what to do.
Otunba Odunowo disclosed to gathering that they did
not go to church or mosque rather they all gathered at a place where an Imam
was invited and that the Imam did give him a certificate of Islamic marriage
which he says he was not able to read up this day because it was issued in an
Arabic language, but, he says that his parents particularly his father was very
gladdened with the ceremony as he says that love is what all Nigerians need to
show to one another at all times. Many speakers contributed to the summit and
they concurred that a strong worded communiqué would be issued out for the
public good of all citizens. Many of the speakers welcomed the mass defection
of 16 senators and 37 House of Representatives members from APC to PDP thereby
making PDP majority at both chambers adding that nothing dangerous should
happen to Dr. Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu.
