Honours Three Uncommon Nigerians

has uncommonly honoured three outstanding Nigerians in the persons of:

Dr.
Abdullahi Bichi
·
Baffa,
Executive Secretary, TETFUND
·
Engr.
Abubakar Isa and
·
Mr.
Paul Gbedebo and conferring the fellowship awards)
of Yaba College of Technology the chief host and Rector of Yaba College of
Technology, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe said that the fellowship awards were
awarded to them owning by the virtue of their achievements and contributions to
the developments of the society adding that he congratulated the distinguished
awardees as they received the highest honour bestowed by the premier
institution of learning in the land.
These three outstanding Nigerians were
adequately honoured in the full view of all and sundry at the Dr. Philip
Adegbile Sport Complex, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos 32nd Convocation
Ceremony. Speaking to the audience, the Rector Engr. Omokungbe said that the
Convocation Ceremony is the climax of the academic calendar of the institution
as it is therefore a very special and gladful occasion when they celebrated the
success of their graduating students and yet another milestones achievement of
their mandate as a polytechnic and he pleasantly and proudly congratulated the
graduands for this unimaginably achievements.
Speaking again to the eclectic audience
the Rector Engr. Omokingbe said that in keeping faith with vision of the
founding fathers, the college has continued to stand tall as the premier Tertiary
institution in Nigeria adding that the 32nd convocation ceremony is for the
award of Diploma and Certificates as a total number of seven thousand, one
hundred and seventy (7,170) graduands comprising full time and the part time
graduating students in the 2016/2017 academic session.
Speaking further to the academia
parents, invited guests, the graduating students and the entire community of
Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos that at the Higher National Diploma
level, the graduating students for the full-time programme are Ninety-seven
(97) students with Distinction, Eight hundred and seventy-five (875) with upper
credit, one thousand three hundred and twenty-two (1,322) with lower credit and
two hundred and seventy-five (275) with pass level while sixteen (16) students
emerged with distinction, four hundred and fifty-eight (458) with upper credit,
three hundred and sixty eight (368) with lower credit and Thirty-four (34) with
pass level are all graduating from the part time programme – adding that the
entire figures at the National Diploma, full time/part time programme are one
hundred and sixty (160) students graduating with distinction, one thousand four
hundred and sixty-seven (1467) with upper credit, Two thousand seven hundred
and Twenty-nine (2729) with lower credit and one thousand, one hundred and
seventy-nine (1179) with pass grade.
Speaking again to the eclatic audience
the rector Engr. Omokungbe said that on his assumption of duty in March 2018
and under the uncommon guidance of the college Governing Council, the college management
did identify the great need to re position the college for the challenges ahead
and keeping with the college vision and mission adding that the consequence of
this noble guidance was the adoption of the four year strategic plan with the
following highlight of activities as the major thrust for action.

Academic enhancement and development.
·
Upgrading/Refurbishment and
Maintenance of existing structures.
·
Physical and Infrastructural
Development of Epe Campus.
·
Staff and Students Welfare
·
Improvement of Internally Generated
Revenue Base for the College.
The 32nd Convocation Ceremony of Yaba
College of Technology had a wonderful packages that started with a press
conference at the conference room of Rector’s office, Jumat prayers, Christians
prayers, lectures on Sustainability of
Technological Advancement; key to Industrial growth in Nigeria and the
honourable Minister of Works, Power and Housing Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola’s
SAN delivered the lectures at Yusuf Grillo Arts Auditorium Yaba – College of
Technology, Yaba, Lagos.
And of a truth the guest speaker did not disappoint
the eclatic audience with his lucid and cerebral delivery of technological
models he employed to drive home his insightful lectures.
And the lecture series
was chaired by Retired Chief Judge of Lagos State Justices Ishola Olorunnimbe
who cracked jokes to carry along the audience with Ali Baba and forty thieves, a tale of two cities, of Charles Dickson of
England and Paris, France Tripplets children and the fellows gala night at
Alumni Hall of yaba College of Technology and the Chairman of Governing Council
Prince Abdulateef Fagbami SAN who decked out on all while tunic with a black
cap to match the while tunic the decked on.
The fellows gala night was graced
by the crème-de-la-crème of Yaba
College of Technology management staffers, Principal staffers, Public Relation
Unit, the Registry Staffers headed by Dr. Momodu et’al.
