Cancer Is Not A Death Sentence – Dr.
Fatiregun

Speaking
as the head consultant at the Continue Medical Education (CME) of Medical Guild
of Annual General Meeting 2018 and Scientific Conference at the Malaria
Research Centre (MRC) Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LASUTH, Ikeja,
Lagos Dr. Omolara Fatiregun Consultant Clinical Rachat Oncologist said that
cancer is not a death sentence to the patients of cancer ailments adding that
all the patients of cancer ailments got to do is to report themselves very
early at the hospital for onward treatment of the said ailment.
She presented
her lecturers through slides which showed many applications that the
oncologists, radiographers, medical surgeons et’ al needed to apply in treating
a cancer patients.
She advocated that medical practitioners should always work
as a team adding that no man is an island, but, in working as a team that much
better results are always achieved for the patients, themselves and the management.
In fact Dr. Fatiregun did not disappoint the participants with her Lucid and
cerebral presentations of her lectures. In a nutshell she employed many models
to drive down her view points to the participants and she told the participants
that cancer is not a death sentence adding that many patients that had cancer
cases had survived the ailment because they reported the case very to the
oncologists.
She said that many of the survivors do live a normal lifestyle
adding that cancer issues should not limit patients to a life of hopelessness
because with the latest trends of technological innovations about many of the
patient, have had been well treated by the team of oncologists, radiographers,
laborating technologists nurses and medical surgeons.
In closing her lectures
she did close with this quote “Think like a proton and stay positive always”.
Speaking
as a consultant to the participants at the MRC Hall, LASUTH, Ikeja, Lagos,
Senior Lecturer, Consultant Medical Microbiologist and as well as Director,
Lagos State Biobank, Dr. Bamidele Mutiu said that the yellow fever outbreak
recently in the land calls for adequate attention of the Federal Ministry of
Health adding that when the killer diseases Ebola broke out that the Federal
Government under watch of former president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the
government of Lagos State under watch of the present Honourable Minister of Power,
Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola as a governor of Lagos State Swung
into action in nippinig the dreaded Ebola before spreading virally to all nooks
and crannies of the land.
The topic he pragmatically handled was Overview of Viral
Hemorrhagic Fevers Dr. Mutiu used many models to drive home his view points to
the participants adding that a health treat anywhere is a healthier treat
everywhere and again he says that about 12,000 persons travel out of Nigeria on
a daily basis.
In fact, Dr. Mutiu did not disappoint the academic gathering
with his lucid and cerebral delivery of the presentation adding that yellow
fever is been caused as a result of mosquito bite which transfers the deadly virus
to the victims. He said that everybody should always his or her environment
very clean adding that cleanliness of the environment prevents mosquitoes from
raving the entire citizenry. He also advocated the individuals should use
treated mosquitoes nets at their beddings and regularly make use of
disinfectants such as raids et’al.
Speaking
to the audience at the MRC Hall, LASUTH, Ikeja, Lagos Specialist Consultant Restorative
Dentistry of Bratie Smiles Dental Studio, Cosmetic and General Dentistry Dr.
Lara Lateefat Agbaje delivered her lectures titled “Using Composite Resin as
Alternative to Amalgam Restorations and of a truth she scholarly delivered her
lectures with facts that would assist the patients with heavy severe tooth
aches and she also mentioned to the participants what were needed to prevent
such occurrence in the future.
At the end of their presentations the moderator
of the Continue Medical Education Scientific Conference of the Medical Guild of
2018 and also the Chairman of Local Organising Committee (LOC) Dr. Shodipo
called for questions, comments and all that. And of a truth, trust the egg heads,
questions were posited to the speakers and the speakers brilliantly provided
answers, for the grey areas and constructive comments were also provided by the
participants.
