HIM PRESENTS 7TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Health Information Management Department of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja, Lagos has proudly and pleasantly presented her 7th Annual Conference on 13th December – 14th December 2018 at Malaria Research Centre MRC Hall, LASUTH, Ikeja, Lagos with a Theme “Challenges To The Growth of Health Information in Nigeria. Speaking as the guest Lecturer Babatunde Ayilegbe (PHD) Assistant Director Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta Ogun State and also Head of Department Health Section of the hospital did not disappoint the participants with his presentation.
He made used of slides in presenting his lectures to the audience and he challenged the audience that information gathering is very important adding that continuous studying is vey key to all and sundry.
Speaking again he said that the only old person(s) alive are those who halted reading or studying adding that everyone must willingly and consciously continue to read all kinds of books that would add more knowledge to the individual(s) as he avers that Health Information Workers must regularly update their knowledge adding that proper management of information of patients are very key to the hospital management success story. He used many models to drive down his view points to the participants.
He pragmatically challenged the Health Information Workers to always be exceedingly careful when dealing and handling information of patient(s), adding that the health information worker(s) would be doing disservice to the hospital management if they go ahead to divulge patient(s) information without the approval of the patient(s).
Speaking to the participants as one of the speakers Dr. Olufemi Macaulay who handled the topic “How to discover and recover the Lost Potential in Health Information” and of a truth, he too did not disappoint the participants with his presentations. He also stressed the viewpoints the first speaker Dr. Aiyelegbe outlines.
Both speakers concurred that continuous studying or reading would largely improve the health information workers and adding that that would unimaginably attract huge successes to the hospital management. He submitted that information is a very important aspect of managing patients and as a result those information really got to be diligently sourced or gathered.
Speaking as the third speaker Aisha Haruna of Natural Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) spoke on the topic The Role of Health Information in National Health Insurance Scheme “and sincerely she too did exceedingly well with her presentations to the audience. 
She also toed the same line the earlier speakers toed adding that thoroughness, tactfulness, carefulness et al are really needed in gathering the health information of patient(s) adding that hospitals are purely set up to socially attend to the general public as one of the social contracts the government owed to the citizenry. At the end of their presentations, questions were posed to them and of a truth they equally provided more answers to the free areas of the subject matters discussed.
Delivering his good will message to the audience the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LASUTH Prof David Adewale Oke commended the Head of Department of Health Information Management department Dr. Sunday Ayeni and other staffers of the department for their doggedness and all that in packaging the annual conference with pundits as speakers adding that the speakers had made the annual conference more simplified for the participants to grasp the meat of the conference.
He frankly wished them a blessed Christmas on few fleeting days and a prosperous a brand Happy New Year 2019. Speaking with Journalists the Head of Department of Health Information Management department LASUTH, Dr. Ayeni said that health matters in the entire country is not encouraging adding that the powers that be do not really give serious considerations to the health care delivery.
He categorically appealed to the Minister of health Prof Isaac Adewole and the Federal government of All Progressives Congress (APC) to humanly consider the improvement Health matters of the citizenry adding that Health is wealth and that a healthy nation does well with indices of economically growth for the public good of the citizenry.
He said that e-health system started at LASUTH gradually adding that the e-health system would largely improve the slowness, toughness et al experience on a regular application of health issues in the system. He said that when e-health system would be fully implemented in the entire country that all and sundry would be privilege to access health treatments.
