Mr.
John Momoh the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Channels Media Group shone like a
northern star at the 13th Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative
Journalism (WSCIJ) at the main auditorium of NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos
where he was bestowed with an award of
life time achievement of the year 2018. Reading his uncommon profile by the
compere of the occasion Funke Treasure Duroola Assistant Director Programme
Radio Nigeria, Lagos Operations which lasted for about 45minutes and the
audience applauded Momoh the media extraordinaire.
In receiving the said award
the channels reporters unimaginably accompanied their boss to the podium. The
media guru and employer of labour overwhelmed with the citation read by Funke
Treasure Duroola and said that he dedicates the award to all Nigerian
Journalists living or dead. The next awardee Waziri Adio for Anti-Corruption Defender
of The Year 2018 also has a very impressive citation and read out to the
audience by Funke Treasure Duroola and he too in his reactions thanked all and
sundry for supporting the worthy cause he is championing.
The 13th
award of Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism proudly and
pleasantly awarded the different categories of awards to 12 journalists from
various media houses.
The Joshua Alabi led drama group Kininso Koncepts
Productions acted a play titled “Sorry” and in that play the cast played
various outstanding roles adding that the Nigeria political space is whole bag
of deceptions to the down trodden masses. They sincerely showcased the hassles
of the citizenry through the feeble leadership of the ruling party at Aso Rock,
Abuja, All Progressives Congress (APC) and above all they categorically told
the electorate that the general elections of February 2019 is very much around
corner adding that there should be careful of politician who would come with all
promises on earth, yet when they finally get to the offices all those campaign
manifestoes are wished away liked a candle in the wind.
Speaking
with iconblaze magazineonline portal Charles Phil Ozoralor the handsome husband
of Mrs. Chinelo Ozorlor of FRCN, Enugu said that he was really gladdened that
his spouse Chinelo won the award adding that when his spouse Chinelo was
covering the NECO examination leakage issues that some powers that be almost
got the exercise truncated, but he said that his spouse employed lots of
investigative streaks which finally exposed the heavy masks officers behind the
killing of the educational standards of the country. He is chartered accountant
by profession. Speaking with Iconblaze Magazine online portal Michel Deklen of
Netherland Embassy said that the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative
Journalism a veritable platform for making press freedom for journalists who
are actually hardworking adding that the WSCIJ has really assisted many
Nigerians journalists to cut their teeth with good reporting. He avers that
Nigerian journalists are always writing long grammars or sentences adding that
reporters should be trained to write short grammars at all times.

Iconlaze Magazine online portal Professor Umaru Patti of Bayero University,
Kano, Kano State said that the WSCIJ has done well for Nigerian Journalists and
Nigerians as a whole adding that press freedom is very necessary for any
economy to grow in leaves and abound. He frankly commended the organizers and
the awardees for all they had sunk in the last 13years of operations.
Speaking
to media gurus, Professors, reporters of all classes Senior Advocate of Nigeria
(SAN) Femi Falana shocked the audiences that only the poor of the society are
paraded as common criminals, he queried the gathering if they had ever seen
where a wealthy person(s) paraded in this country?
He appealed to crime
reporters to be human beings when investigating crime related cases with the
down trodden masses because they are human beings that must be treated with
love et’ al. The 14th edition of WSCIJ shall be held on December 9,
