Momoh Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of Channels Media Croup Shines @ WSCIJ Awards

Mr. John Momoh the Chairman and Chief Executive  Officer of Channels Media Group shone like a northern star at the 13th Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) at the main auditorium of NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos where  he was bestowed with an award of life time achievement of the year 2018. Reading his uncommon profile by the compere of the occasion Funke Treasure Duroola Assistant Director Programme Radio Nigeria, Lagos Operations which lasted for about 45minutes and the audience applauded Momoh the media extraordinaire. 

In receiving the said award the channels reporters unimaginably accompanied their boss to the podium. The media guru and employer of labour overwhelmed with the citation read by Funke Treasure Duroola and said that he dedicates the award to all Nigerian Journalists living or dead. The next awardee Waziri Adio for Anti-Corruption Defender of The Year 2018 also has a very impressive citation and read out to the audience by Funke Treasure Duroola and he too in his reactions thanked all and sundry for supporting the worthy cause he is championing. 

The 13th award of Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism proudly and pleasantly awarded the different categories of awards to 12 journalists from various media houses. 

The Joshua Alabi led drama group Kininso Koncepts Productions acted a play titled “Sorry” and in that play the cast played various outstanding roles adding that the Nigeria political space is whole bag of deceptions to the down trodden masses. They sincerely showcased the hassles of the citizenry through the feeble leadership of the ruling party at Aso Rock, Abuja, All Progressives Congress (APC) and above all they categorically told the electorate that the general elections of February 2019 is very much around corner adding that there should be careful of politician who would come with all promises on earth, yet when they finally get to the offices all those campaign manifestoes are wished away liked a candle in the wind.

Speaking with iconblaze magazineonline portal Charles Phil Ozoralor the handsome husband of Mrs. Chinelo Ozorlor of FRCN, Enugu said that he was really gladdened that his spouse Chinelo won the award adding that when his spouse Chinelo was covering the NECO examination leakage issues that some powers that be almost got the exercise truncated, but he said that his spouse employed lots of investigative streaks which finally exposed the heavy masks officers behind the killing of the educational standards of the country. He is chartered accountant by profession. Speaking with Iconblaze Magazine online portal Michel Deklen of Netherland Embassy said that the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism a veritable platform for making press freedom for journalists who are actually hardworking adding that the WSCIJ has really assisted many Nigerians journalists to cut their teeth with good reporting. He avers that Nigerian journalists are always writing long grammars or sentences adding that reporters should be trained to write short grammars at all times. 

Speaking with Iconlaze Magazine online portal Professor Umaru Patti of Bayero University, Kano, Kano State said that the WSCIJ has done well for Nigerian Journalists and Nigerians as a whole adding that press freedom is very necessary for any economy to grow in leaves and abound. He frankly commended the organizers and the awardees for all they had sunk in the last 13years of operations.
Speaking to media gurus, Professors, reporters of all classes Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana shocked the audiences that only the poor of the society are paraded as common criminals, he queried the gathering if they had ever seen where a wealthy person(s) paraded in this country? 

He appealed to crime reporters to be human beings when investigating crime related cases with the down trodden masses because they are human beings that must be treated with love et’ al. The 14th edition of WSCIJ shall be held on December 9, 2019.
