The Proprietress of WalkTall International School, Ibafo,
Ogun State Mrs. Adebiyi Olubukola has feted five basic six pupils at Sheraton
Hotels and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos Friday 18th January, 2019.
Speaking with Iconblaze Magazine Online Portal, she said that
the whole essence of feting the five basic six pupils at a five star hotel of
the class of Sheraton is to encourage the pupils of Basic five to be inspired
to do basic six programmes completely adding that most parents preferred their
children or wards to do common entrance examinations at the level of basic five
and from basic five they gain admission into secondary schools.
Speaking further with Iconblaze Magazine Online Portal, the
down to earth and friendly Proprietress of WalkTall International School,
Ibafo, Ogun State, Mrs Adebiyi said that most of the parents who preferred
their children or wards to skip basic six programmes do that, either they the
parents do not want to pay the one year school fees to the school owners or it
may be as a result of ignorance adding that if a child or a ward does not
complete basic six programmes, that such a child or ward would not be issued
with First School Leaving Certificate.
She opined that the First School Leaving Certificate is very
important for all pupils with basic six education adding that there are some
employers and organizations who do normally request the certificate before employment
could be given. Speaking again with Iconblaze Magazine Online Portal she said
that she had been a victim of skipping basic six programmes for one of her
child who was 15 years old then adding that when she got to Europe the school
authorities said that the child was not up to 16 years old to gain admission into
university and rather than the child doing nothing for one whole year at home,
She was placed in a foundation class which the cost was extremely higher
compared to the cost of doing basic six programmes in Nigeria.
Speaking again with Iconblaze Magazine Online Portal she said
that WalkTall International School shall be celebrating 12 years of providing
total educational services to the nation come July 2019 adding that there had
been serious challenges faced since the birth of the school, she disclosed that
for eight years that there was no energy supply in Ibafo and that the school
operated alternative energy supply 24/7 so that workers, pupils and parents
would be gladdened.
She said that the roads were so disturbing at some point,
but, she gladly said the powers that be are doing some social contracts
improvements on roads networks. She said that most parents find it extremely
difficult to pay bills and as a result of that they too face the crunch.
She said that teachers should earn more than all
professionals because of the amount of sacrifices they the teachers experienced
adding that the powers that be should proactively and pragmatically invest in
educational sector because education is the very, very, very best weapon for
all and sundry for massive and industrialized revolution to take place in the
nation economy. The five basic six pupils who decked out in their school
uniforms like kings and queens are: Ibrahim Oyewunmi, Oyebanji Ayomikun,
Halimat Balogun, Peter Faredoka and Ikumuoluyi Nifemi. The Head of school Mr.
Awofeso Olayinka Gabriel was in the train of the five star hotel buffet.
In concluding her media parley with Iconblaze Magazine Online
Portal the elegant, amiable and extraordinary brilliant proprietress of
WalkTall International School, Ibafo, Ogun State do passionately appeal to
parents to always allow their children or wards to do basic six programmes
adding that the powers that be should “Bring Back Primary Six Class” to the system.
