THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA’S YOUTHS IS VERY,
VERY, VERY BLEAK- AGWOGIE

Speaking
with Journalists at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos. The
founder and Executive Director of Global Initiative on Substance Abuse (GISA)
Dr. Martin Agwogie said that the future of the Nigeria’s Youths is very, very,
very bleak adding that the whole intents and purposes of National training of
Trainers on the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC) for substance use
disorders are to pragmatically arrest the unprecedented rate at which the
Nigerian Youths abuse themselves by consuming various harmful and dangerous
substances into their body metabolism.
Speaking
further with journalists at the venue of the training he averred that the 10
days events January 15th-24th, 2019 had uncommonly
gathered experts and professionals from National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,
NAFDAC, Academia, Oil and Gas, the Government etial.
He says
that over the years adequate awareness had not been created by the relevant
agencies with heavy elucidations on the inherent harmfulness and dangers that
associated with substance abuses and disorders.
He says
that all hands must be on deck to bring back civilities, good manners, good behaviour,
obedience to the laws of the land, adding that if all these indices are well
applied and nurtured that the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow would be
heavily tailored and packaged for the future, but very sadly he opined that
most parents do not have the whims and caprices of raising their children and
wards correctly.
He queried
that there are some areas where all manners of youths are raised up with bad
influences, yet, there are still some of them who turned out peerlessly for the
positive good of the society.
He says
that the latest substance abuse in town is branded “Gutter water” which
comprised all manners of concoctions that the users do normally misbehave from
time to time because the users are under the influence of cloud 15 in the orbit
zone.
He concurs
that the participants would definitely apply the learnings and knowledge they
had acquired from lectures to the larger society thereby the target audience
would be captured.
He
submitted that there are over 700 substances flying in the air and he says that
all and sundry should be proactively, effectively, efficiently and
pragmatically so that these destroyers of human life be eliminated from the
