– UKU QUALIFIES 100 GRADUATES

The Delta State Vocational Education
Centre Ubulu Uku kingdom, Aniocha South Local Government Area, Delta State has
pleasantly qualified 100 graduates from her first edition of exhibition and
award ceremony.
Speaking as the administrator the
chaplain of the Delta State Vocation Centre, Ubulu – Uku kingom Mrs. Nwaobi who
stood in for the administrator of the centre Pastor (Mrs.) Gilo said that they
sincerely and respectfully thank the Delta State Governor, His Excellency,
Senator, (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa who in his governmental applications to
extend prosperity to all Deltans with the intents of transforming Delta as an
industrialize state through the job creation drive decided to create more
vocation Education Centres across the state which did give birth to Vocational
Training Centre, Ubulu – Uku kingom.
Speaking again to the audience the
administrator said that in these times of economic downturn and high rate of
youths unemployment that the governor Okowa has set of strategic objectives to
strengthen Vocational Education Training (VET) and to expand a formal
apprenticeship scheme in Delta State adding that industrialization is sinquanon
for development as well as springboard to a wider spread development. She said
that Vocational Education Training is the natural panacea for unemployment and
eradication of poverty and deplorable conditions adding that backwardness
should be heavily avoided.
Speaking again to the audience she
said that executive governor of the state signed the bill setting up the Delta
State Technical and Vocational Education Board into law in the 2015 with comrade
Michael Akpobire as its pioneer Executive Secretary to drive the policy adding
that in January, 2019 Delta State Vocational Education Centre (DSVEC) Ubulu –
Uku kingdom was put in place like every other centre in the state, which is
headed by an administrator, Again the administrator told the audience that
enrolment of trainees did begin in December 2018 adding that after they had
orientation exercise in January 2019 they had 50 trainees registered.
She
pleasantly told the audience that 100 students graduated from the centre which
would largely boost the technological development of not just the community alone
but, the entire state. She listed the eight departments which made up the
centre:

Electrical
Department
·
Hair
Dressing, Makeover Department
·
Barbing
Department
·
Tailor
Department
·
Catering
and Hotel Management Department
·
ICT
Department
·
Computer
Engineering Department
·
Event
management Department
The administrator also stated the
challenges facing the centre as:
·
Lack
of Toilet facilities
·
Lack
of adequate seats for the trainees and
·
Lack
of Bore – hole.
Speaking as the Chairman of the
ceremony Secretary, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, Asaba Sir Abua
Byron Unini narrated to the audience how the pleasant ideas of reintroducing
the Vocational Education Training Centres in the state began adding that the
administration of the executive governor Okowa should be praised and
appreciated for the reintroduction of Technical Centres in the state.
He said
that all the challenges facing the Ubulu – Uku kingdom centre had been noted
adding that his own office would speedily and radically address the issues of
bore – hole facility.
He also goaded parents of the trainees and other well
meaning citizenry of the community to frankly support the centre with goodn;esses
of facilities adding that the administrator of the centre appreciated some uncommon
individuals who had unimaginably assisted the trainees and the centre itself.
He congratulated the graduates of the centre as well as rendered recipes to
them to positively apply the skills they had learned from the centre so that
they would be able to improve themselves and the entire state.
Speaking to the audience the Ag.
Executive Secretary Delta State Technical and Vocational Education Board
Anthony Nwanti told the gathering that when governor Okowa assumed office that
he identified that an idle mind is very hopeless, hence he established the
Technical and Vocational Education Board (TVEB) to oversee the workings of
Technical Colleges and Vocational Centres across the states adding that Ubulu –
Uku kingdom Vocational Education Centre for the training of future
entrepreneurs and employers of labour.
Speaking further Nwanti said that the
Delta State Technical Colleges and Vocational Centres were indeed bringing out
the developmental potentials God Himself have given to the youths of the state
adding that the state governor Okowa did give approval for the running of the
centre few months ago and of a truth the centre has qualified the lucky grandaunds
and future employers of labour.
Speaking again Nwanti said that vocational
Education is a system of study that prepares the individuals, for jobs that are
heavily based on manual or practical applications adding that it is totally
related to specific trades, occupations vocations such as ICT, Fashions Design,
Catering and Hotel management, wood works, Building Technology et’al.
Speaking further to graduands Nwanti
says that with the skills and knowledge the graduands had acquired from the
training would certainly help to make monies, to be self employed, as well as
having more opportunities to earn an honest living. The centre departments were
inspected by the government functionaries that graced the graduation ceremony.
The graduation ceremony recorded the following graduands as the best graduates
and from the department of Information Communication Technology ICT, Isichie Christian
Chisom while Adingwupu Victor from Electrical department became the best
graduand. The Instructors of the two departments are Uwandi Michael Uche for
ICT and Eboka Jude is for Electrical instructor.
To lively up the graduation ceremony
the graduands themselves trilled the audience with cultural dance and
chorography displays.
