Speaking to the audience at the 18th Annual Conference of Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria CHMN ------ caring for the sick the vice President CHM Africa as well as the Chairperson CHM Nigeria Deaconess Joyce Olainobosipo Akinola said that they are in Six countries of the globe, namely Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, America, United Kingdom and Indian as she added that by the grace of God come year 2020 there would be a Christ Hospital Ministry South Africa.

She pleasantly and uncommonly welcome all and sundry to the 18th Annual Conference which had a theme: If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36) and as well as Health Seminar topic: Drug Abuse and Addictions: Symptoms and Treatment, Effects, Risk Factors and Rehabilitation as she gladly narrated to the audience how gracefully God Himself has been a strong pillar for them in the last 18 years ago that they had been caring for the sick people around the globe. She gracefully appreciated all the medical doctors and the medical team that had been very supportive to their worthy cause as she prayed for them for God Himself to continually bless them for all of mankind.

Speaking to the audience through slides she displayed the countries that had been neck deep in the drug peddling for example nations like Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, South East Asia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and West Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indian adding that in the Nigeria Delta region and South West region mostly Oyo State had a large chunk of concentration of drugs.
Speaking further to the participants she said that the youths want to socialise with their peer groups hence they largely involve themselves into heavy drug abuse thereby creating problems for themselves, their parents and the entire society. She said that parents have a lots of works to do in the upbringing of their children and wards so that as they grow up, they would become responsible citizenry of the nation and a big blessing to all of mankind.
She submitted that parents should begin to talk to their children right from the womb with positive words at all times adding the holy Bible says that little children should be raised up in Godly ways so that when they grow up, they would not depart from the norms, morals, values, et’al.
She rounded off her well researched presentations by saying let work together synergies, collaborate and help each other in order to live in sane and healthy society adding that God created all and sundry for a purpose and the purposes must be fulfilled to the fullest for public good.

Speaking to the participants with a good will message the first Lady of Lagos State as a special guest of honour, Her Excellency Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo – Olu was pleasantly represented by Pharm (Mrs.) Yewande Olorunrihu of Lagos state Primary Healthcare Board LSPHCB and as well as LCDA Pharmacist, Agboyi Ketu, firstly she delivered the warm wishes of the first Lady of Lagos State to the management of Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria as she said that the health seminar topic Drug Abuse and Addiction is timely and apt as she also goaded the resource persons to deliver their papers lucidly and all that.
Speaking to the audience the representative of the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Mrs. Bolaji Cecelia Dada the Assistant Director Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Lagos State government Mrs. Omolara Dada delivered the warm felicitations of her boss to the management of Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria adding that the programme is a laudable one as the take home meats would largely affect all and sundry from the scientific views. She gladly told the participants that they should not compare their children with other children in their neighbourhood as every child is created differently by God Himself. She said that parents should always speak positively to their children no matter how piqued they the parents may be.


She said that parents should always have healthy discussions with their children at all times and by so doing the children would largely have confined in their parents by sharing experiences as the case may be.

Speaking again she said that parents have unfettered right to enter their children rooms any time the need arises as she added that some parents are in the habit of knocking the doors of their children and wait for an answer before entering inside the rooms. She said that parents do not really to be emotional with their children or wards as she added that the more parents do listen to their children, the more the children would love them thereby the children would be properly monitored. Mrs. Dada the representative of the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Mrs. Dada said that the people should not use drugs wrongly and that they should have fear of God.

Speaking to the audience the World Wide President of Christ Hospital Ministry Rev. Sam Ajibola said that for the last 18 years they had been touching lives, saving lives et’al as he pleasantly thanked all their volunteers for the uncommon services they had rendered to the sick.

He said that the Christ Hospital Ministry began in the United Kingdom 19 years ago, but, she came down to Nigeria and other parts of Africa 18 years ago as he uncommonly commended all the medical doctor and medical team that had largely supported their worthy cause to all of mankind.

He said that God Himself has been very helpful to them in all areas as they had been able to carry on the mandate of (CHM) without breaking down.

Speaking as the guest speaker Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychologist of Gracehill Place, Hospital Dr. Otefe Edebi did not disappoint the audience with his lucid and cerebral deliveries of the health seminar topic. Drug Abuse, Addiction: Symptoms, Treatment, Effects, Risk Factors and Rehabilitation. He medically informed the audience that many people do take drugs for so many reasons such as:
·        To fit in
·        To escape or relax
·        To relieve bore down
·        To experiment or out of curiosity
·        Emotional struggle or stress
·        Perception of low risk associated with drugs.

Speaking again Dr. Edebi said that drugs would take one up, yet the pains are still there as it takes one up and also brings the fellow down painfully. He said that effects and cost of Drug Abuse to the society are the followings:
·        Economic
·        Family
·        Crime
·        Health adding that drug destroys families, people under the influence of drug commit crime regularly. He also touched on individual factors, family factors and Environmental factors as he clearly analyses that individual factors included behaviour and personality as well as genetic and physical make up, family factor included the way the parents and children behave and relate to each other and that the environmental factors included circumstances outside of the family such as schools, experiences, peer influence and community conditions.
     He said that drug is the leaf not the root of the problems and he rounded of his inspiring presentations with the four Ps –

       People

     Price and closing he said that the children of Israel were delivered, but, they were not freed.
Handling the testimony session of the program Pastor Shola shared the testimonies God Himself had worked for Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria and Mrs. Funmilayo Alowooja shared that she had suffered haemorrhaging for a period of three years and that she went to general hospital for diagnosis and she was billed N500, 000.00 for the surgery of fibroid flow.
She shared that she had no such monies with her until her sibling who lives in the United Kingdom heard of the roles of Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria and her sibling informed her of the mission and pronto the CHM took care of her and graciously the surgery was done on her free of charge by the Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria Management. Alowooja uncommonly thanked God for bringing Christ Hospital Ministry Nigeria to help the sick in Nigeria and other places of the globe.
Speaking to the participants Pastor Philip Babalola of Evergreen Christian Church, Obanikoro took care of the sermon in the healing ministration and of a truth he did not disappoint the audience because he was led in the Holy Spirit of God to deliver the sermon spiritually.   

The care packages of CHMN include the followings:
·        Visiting and providing health for the sick in the hospitals, homes and prisons
·        Encouraging and counselling patients and also distributing bibles to them
·        Encouraging fellowship in the hospital chapels.
·        Practising and sharing the grace of God with the sick
·        Pleading God’s intervention in critical cases
·        Sharing the testimonies regarding God’s healthy power
·        Organising home visit and help after discharge from the hospital
·        Providing help line for the sick financial assistance when necessary
