MOLUSI COLLEGE UNCOMMONLY PREPARED US
FOR THE FUTURE – PROF. OGUNYE

Speaking
as the Chairman at the Molusian 70 (1970 – 2020) 50th Anniversary
(1970 – 74 SET) at Marcoplo Oriental Cuisine, Lekki, Lagos retired professor of
Electronix from University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, professor Ayo Ogunye
pleasantly told the audience that their former College, Molusi College,
Ijebugbo Ogun State uncommonly prepared them for future adding that as
Molusians that they had all attained their various levels of positions in life.
Prof. Ogunye narrated to the gathering how Molusi College Ijebugbo, Ogun State
was founded by the founders. He said that the children from Ijebugbo were
trekking down to Ijebu Ode for Secondary School Education until when the
founders rallied themselves to raise monies the for the purposes of founding a
college that would make the children from Ijebugbo to reduce the hassles of
long walk to seek for education, therefore when the founders realised four
thousand pounds they immediately founded Molusi College, a co – educational
college for boys and girls.
He disclosed to the crowds that the school gave
them uncommon preparedness for the future as he added that the school had
produced all brands of professionals on the surface of the planet earth. He
said that he would eternally remain grateful to God, the founders and his late
parents who gave him the right directions to follow as a young lad.
He
pleasantly praised the 1970 – 74 set of Molusi College for all they had done
for the school thus far and he also encouraged them to continue to reach out to
other sets of the college so that many more meaningful contributions could be
done to the great college that uncommonly prepared them for the future.
Speaking
to the audience Prof. Ogunye said that he became a professor at a very tender
age of 36 years old whereas some of his colleagues became professor at the age
of 56 years adding that Molusi College uncommonly prepared him for that great
feat.
Speaking to the audience the global president of 1970 – 74 set Molusians
Dr. Kukoyi thanked prof. Ogunye profusely for accepting to chair the event
despite the shortness of notice given to him. He also commended their members
for heeding the call and attended in large numbers. He said that their almamata
needs lots of attention so that learning could be very interesting for the
present students and that the teachers needed to be motivated from time to
time. As the event continued, they observed a full one minute silence for their
departed classmates in the last 50 years and they were 41 of them. About eight
of them were awarded with award of recognition for meritorious selfless
services and commitment to Molusi College and the children of late Leke Margnus
Adeatan received an award on behalf of their late father.
Speaking
with Iconblazemagazineonlineportal prof. Ogunye said that Molusi College had
children from so many parts of the country that came for educational expedition
as he added the boarding house system groomed them as one big family from Iwo,
Ibadan, Edo, Kalabari et’al. He said that they were well brought up with mores,
morals, values, skills, and they had fun in all ramifications. He said that he
made grade two when he wrote his final examination while 12 of his classmates
made grade one.
He submitted that standard of education is still okay in the country
that all the government needs to do is to encourage and motivate all stakeholders
so that the standards would not fall down. He said that Molusi college started
with 57 students and he said that the 57 students did extremely well at
finalexamination with good grades.
Prof. Ogunye said that he belongs to the set
of 1973 because he entered Molusi college in 1969, but, nevertheless he was
gladdened to chair the event of 1974 set that was one year his juniors.
Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonlineportal the former Commissioner for Rural Development
in Lagos State from 2003 – 2011 Lanre Balogun said that he was in Okeagbo boys
hostel when he was a student of Molusi College between 1970 – 1974. He said
that they were heavily imparted with discipline and industry.
He said that they
had fun as the school authorities approved for them. He said that they had good
and lovable teachers who took them as their own biological children because
they the teachers really nurtured them greatly. Speaking with
Iconblazemagazineonlineportal the global president Dr. Kukoyi said that the
academic performance was very fine in their days. He said that the takeover of
the school by government had affected the school negatively adding that they
are working very hard to take the school back from government so that they
could run the school in the spirit of the founders.
He said that the mission
had begun since three years and that they are pressing on so that their great
Molusi college could be handed over to them.
Speaking
with Iconblazemagazineonlineportal Mrs. ArinolaOgunyanwo a 1970 – 74 set said
Molusi college mixed school gave them too many opportunities to develop
themselves adding that their teachers pragmatically imparted disciplines,
industry, mores, morals and skills to them. She said that they were exposed to
their male counterparts with great decorum adding that they met monthly with
their meetings which gave them opportunities to meet with those that they had
not seen for some time past. She sincerely felt sorry for their departed
classmates from this planet earth as she prayed for their souls to be rested
with the peace of the Lord in Heaven. Bonajo Badejo SAN thanked the committee
that deemed fit to recognise them with awards as he said there is progress in
togetherness.
He also said that they the awardees had dedicated the award to
all the members of the Molusians 1970 – 74 set. He said that, it was nice going
to Molusi college. He said that they had lots of pranks as students.
As
the 50th anniversary continued the compere Mr. Ayo Agbesanwa called
for general introduction of themselves with their college admission number, and
of a truth the self-introduction exercise brought life and savvy into the
event. Agbesanwa college admission number was 2561 which automatically placed
him at class one E and he left Molusi college from form 5 E in the year 1974.
As the compere he carried all and sundry along with the activities that took
place while they were students at Molusi College. And of a truth they were
exceedingly joyous with their robust laughter. The audience had a great array
of foodies to munching and assorted drinks to salivate the foodies.
