We Need True Federalism To Solve The Problems Of Insecurity – Dr. Okunola.

Speaking as the keynote speaker to the audience at the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, (MDCAN) Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Ikeja, Lagos. 
The Managing Director Shefa Integrative Medical Services Limited of health and wellness Air commodore Benjamin Okunola (rtd) said that there has to be a true federalism system of governance to solve the problem of insecurity in the land. 

He made this clarion call at the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference at the Malaria Research Centre Hall (MRC) LASUTH, Ikeja Lagos with the theme “The Impact of Nigeria Internal Security Challenges on the Medical and Health Care Professionals. 

He categorically informed the eclatic gathering that only a true federalism of governance could effectively and efficiently reduce the incidencies of various security challenges of the medical and Health care professionals meted at these professionals by patients and their relations alike. 

Speaking further to the audience Air Commodore Okunola Rtd said that there are several factors causing the heavy security challenges on the medical and health care professionals for instances the issues of poor governance porous borders, illiteracy, terrorists treats from Armed bandits, Boko Haram, cultism and militarism, herdsmen and farmers crises and several school children out of schools who had found their ways into Advanced fees fraud a.k.a 419 as he added if the nation runs a truly federal system of government that these security challenges would have been curtailed for peace to reign in the land. 

He said that the same Nigerian military personnel who brought appreciable peace in Liberia and Sierra-Leon some years ago had not been able to achieve the same feat with all the incoherently dangerous elements in the land adding that 2.3 million persons had been displaced by Boko Haram insurgencies while 10,000 persons had been killed in Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger e.t.c. 

He said that because the Nation had the highest weight of porous borders in the entire globe that there had been human trafficking, arms running by various cartels who wickedly kidnapped medical doctors for ransoms from their employers, families and friends. 

He said that the high rate of poverty and illiteracy had caused many persons to be incoherently dangerous to the system because their thin skins had been severely touched. Speaking to the audience with his welcome address the chairman of MDCAN LASUTH chapter Dr. Adekunle Adebayo pleasantly welcomed all and sundry to the Annual General Meeting and scientific conference with warm banters, pleasantries and felicitation as he added that it is really a right steps in the right direction to discuss the issue of impact of Nigeria’s internal security challenges on the medical and health care professionals. 
He pleasantly assured the audience that the key note speaker Air Commodore Okunola rtd would in all ramifications deliver a heavily researched papers to bring his submission to bear. 
Speaking to the gathering on behalf of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of LASUTH, Ikeja, Lagos professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, Director of Clinical Services and Training (CMAC), LASUTH Ikeja Lagos Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim said that the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of MDCAN had come at the right time judging with the ways and manners medical doctors and other health care professionals had been badly treated by some patients, and their relations and kidnappers who had made the working environment largely not secured for workers to discharge their primary duties of saving lives. 

He assured the MDCAN that there would always be a robust working relationship between the management of LASUTH and MDCAN for the purpose of achieving the set goals of the management. 

But, as the AGM and scientific conference continued the Chief Medical Director himself Prof. Fabamwo arrrived and he profusely tendered apologies for his late arrival occasioned by Lagos traffic hold up as he added that it would be a disrespect and disservices to the MDCAN if he did not physically show up. 

He disclosed to them that there are special funds available for retraining of medical personnel. 

He said that about six medical doctors had been selected for further trainings as he added that any medical personnel wishing to advance his or her development for three or six months should apply for the funds which could fall between N3 million to N5 million for further trainings. 
He gave a wise to them that they should be maturity in the ways they carry out their union events with sweet relationship with the powers that ***** generally wished the MDCAN a huge success as she continues to saving lives of Nigerians in all ramifications speaking to the gathering with his good will message the chairman Medical Guild Dr. Shodipo said that the rates with which medical practitioners are being assaulted, harassed and molested by patients and their relations are really alarming and gory as he said that recently at Lagos Island a medical doctor was beaten up by a patient and he tore his clothes as well. 
He said that the impact of Nigeria Internal Security challenges on the medical and health care professionals really got to be improved so that medical and healthcare professionals, productively discharge their duties and services without fear of favour. 


Speaking to the audience with his presentations consultant pulmnologist Dr. Oluwafemi Tunde Ojo presented Pnemoccal diseases and of a truth he did not disappoint the audience with his lucid and cerebral deliveries. 

Speaking further to the audience he said that to adequately prevent the pnemocal diseases that all and sundry actually needed to imbibe the culture of personal hygiene, vaccination exercise from time to time both infants and adults. Again he said the nutritious consumption must be of balance diets at all times. 

Speaking with iconblazemagazineonline portal the chairman of MDCAN Dr. Adebayo said that many of their colleagues are regularly assaulted, killed, kidnapped for ransome and where the ransome is not quickly provided that the kidnappers always torture their kidnapped colleagues before they finally snuff out life of them. He said that they leave home very early for work and also close very late, yet, some school of thought still do not appreciate the selfless services the rendered to save lives adding that it is the duties of the government to protect their citizenry at all costs. 

He said that government should provide vehicles for security operatives to have free access of movements in order to foil ugly situations whenever they arise as he added that everyone should be security conscious at all times.
