BSN CELEBRATES 12TH FOUNDERS’S DAY ANNUAL LECTURE, AWARDS CEREMONY

The Bible Society of Nigeria has pleasantly and uncommonly celebrated her 12th Founder’s Day alongside with annual Lecture and as well as Awards ceremony with theme “Curbing Communal Conflicts and Terrorism For Sustainable National Growth and Development” at the Agip Recital Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos. 

Speaking to the audience the guest speaker Chief Executive Officer, Halogen Group Wale Olaoye did not disappoint the audience with his presentations of the lecture as he began the lecture with playing of old genre of music produced by African American legend Louis Amstrong titled The Colours of Rainbow. 

He scholarly presented eleven pages of thoroughly and critically researched data and statistics of ugly and gory stories that churn out every second in the globe today adding that there would be no meaningful growth where there is no peace in the land as he further submitted that peace is the fulcrum of National growth and development in general. He again said that the entire globe has become online digital space where everyone co-exist as he added that the construct of a community as a social unit with communality such as norms, religion, values, customs, or identity is now old school. 

He said that communities are no more defined nor restricted by proximity of and sense of places situated in a given geographical area adding that communities are now defined by passion, interests and ephemeral intents and purposes. He said that the new online platforms now determined who and how many friends one has with over 3.5 billion online – 47% of the world population as he said that these are the new communities that the growth and development sphere.

He said that in the year 2030, 110 millions of Nigerians would be living in extreme poverty. He postulated that people must have freedom to curb the conflict in Nigeria as conflicts and terrors occupy the Nigeria space with terrible occurrences on regular basis. 

He stated Nigeria is under developing country that need the Holy Spirit of God to direct the leaders aright so that meaningful growth and national development indices could be put in place so that citizens could co – exist as a people. 

He stated that the notion of community started from God Himself for a common will to live together and if community life style is not promoted that there would be conflict and as well as terrorism. He stated that in 2013 that 2.7 millions of people had been displaced as a result Boko Haram insurgency. 

He states that security came in when man fell and failed adding that everyone is the cause of the insecurity in the land adding that the days of cheap foods are gone, because in 2030 Africa’s population would be 1.4 billion, therefore there would be no cheap food, no cheap energy, no jobs for young people. 

He stated that the leaders should pragmatically plan ahead for food security, urbanization, jobs creating and as well as work hard to halt farmers and herdsmen clashes that had taken away many lives. 

He stated the idea of one man with four wives and 27 children is not too pleasing because that causes the urge of one man wishing to eat the food of 50 people, adding that growth and national development cannot take place where there is no peace and energy. 

He stated that wealth is inclusive and that the people cannot solve their problem with the same thing that created it as he added that development must have a soul because it serves the entire community as people must fulfil visions not leaders and as well as unity is a result of vision and bigger than the leaders. 

He stated that where there is no vision people fight each other, he submitted that the constitution must be the framework to work out good ethos. He postulated that the national vision must be higher than leaders adding that a government without a vision is a failed government. 

He again said that there must be indication data must be gathered for effective control of resources for the citizens in the areas of health care, education, finance, agriculture, Technology adding that until sons begin to emerge nation would change, because there has to be carriers of good seed. 

He says that God Himself is waiting and the nation is waiting. When he drew down the curtain of his lecture, he was roundly applauded with a standing ovation.

Speaking to the audience the President of the Bible Society of Nigeria Dr. Timothy Banwo welcomed all and sundry to the 12th BSN Founder’s Day with love of Jesus Christ adding that the event had been pleasantly packaged to address the issues of insecurity in the land. 

Speaking to the audience the Chairman of the event Jacob Moyo Ajekigbe prayerfully welcomed all and sundry in matchless name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and wished everyone to be up and doing with the instrument to curb the terrorism streaks in the land so that unfettered peace could be administered for national growth and development. 

He also informed the audience that the BSN is still operating from a rented apartment and that they had proposed a building project that would cost them N2.2 Billion for the erecting of God’s house. 

He appealed to all and sundry to rise up to the challenges to uncommonly support the good works of building for the Lord. He also informed the audience that General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, BSN Patron and father of the Day just jetted into town only on the 6th of February 2020 and he profusely apologised for his inability to grace the event because of Jet lag.  

The audience were entertained and trilled by the leaders of tomorrow from Living Spring School Lekki, Lagos by performing a drama of the ugly happenings in the nation that insecurity has caused in the main body polity of the nation
