EDO STATE HELD US UP AS COMMON CRIMINALS –

Speaking
at the museum open grounds to general public comrade Kelly Omokaro stated that
the commissioner of police Philip Ogbadu held them as common criminals by
ordering his men to lock up the main gate of the museum with security padlock
thereby the members of coalition of civil society, students and youths groups
that came in their droves to protest the recent hike in the prices of cement
and fuel as he added that Nigeria is in democracy and as such the citizenry
have unfettered rights to protest of any damaging policies that are inimical to
the wellbeing of the downtrodden masses.
Speaking again comrade Omokaro stated that the police and other security operatives that arrived the venue of the protest as early 5:00am on Monday 29,2021 are supposed to be busy with taking care of Benin-Auchi Express way where Fulani herdsman have made life very harsh for travelers on a daily basis adding that the police and other security operators ought to be alive with checkmating criminals who do largely disturb the peace of society rather than coming to barricade the main gate of Museum where free born citizens decided to stage a peaceful protest to register their feelings as regards the increase of prices of cement, fuel and virtually all items in the open market. Comrade Omokaro on behalf of the Coalition of Civil Society, students and youth groups issued a 14-day ultimatum to markets to reverse the price of cement and fuel, else there shall be a nationwide protest where all the market women, men, cripples, dumbs, deafs, prostitutes, bricklayers shall be mobilized for the struggle.
Speaking again to the general public, the leader of Talakawa’s Parliament Comrade Kola Edopkpayi stated that there has to be heavy application of price control that has been in existence since 1977 so, that prices of items in the open markets could be same everywhere in the nation adding that the prices of things in the North are quite different from the prices of things down South. Comrade Edopayi heavily lampooned the overzealous behavior of the police and other security operatives that held up the protesters hostage by unlovably and wickedly locking up the main gate with heavy security padlock so as to prevent the protesters from making a peaceful procession to the office of the executive governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki where they intended to register their grievances over the prices of cement and other commodities that have risen above the rooftops.
Speaking to the general public the national spokesman of Nigerian Student and Youths Association (NYSA) Edo State, Comrade Osemudia Ogbidi emphatically stated in the same line other speakers have tilted on the issues on ground which they tagged “End Cement Increment and fuel Hike”. He also stated that the commissioner of police, Edo State Ogabdu has been given vote of no confidence because of his undemocratic discharge of power sat the citizenry that are law abiding.
Speaking with Icon blazemagazineonline the president of Nigerian Students and Youths Association (NYSA) Edo State Comrade David Ekwe stated that the leaders of Nigeria has actually failed and disappointed the electorate that came out in large numbers to vote for All Progressives Congress (APC) of PMB from 2015 and 2019, but he lamented that honest mandate was given to PMB and his political party (APC) has only brought untold hardships on the common peoples of Nigeria, adding that because of the sufferings in the land many persons have resulted to all manners of means to eke out a living. He queried, can everybody be a criminal? He noted that the member of the legislative arms at the national assembly and also state houses of assembly are doing nothing to improve the living standards of the toiling masses.
At the Main gate of Museum where the protestors gathered many speakers spoke out their grievance to the general public, but, Mama P, a woman leader of National Association of Nigerian Students stated her opinions in a very painful tone as she said that the police actions towards the protesters are nothing to write home about. She stated that after the 14 days ultimatum issued for the reversal of the price hike is not adhered to that there shall be mother of all protests nationwide. Comrade Prince Terry Ogbeni gave the activists camaraderie freedom fighters songs which added heavy colorations to the protest.
