FCCPC ROUNDS OFF TWO DAYS SITTING

The Federal Competition  and Consumer Protection Commission has pleasantly rounded off its sitting from Tuesday June 15^th to Wednesday June 16^th 2021 at Lagos Chambers of Commerce and industry conference and exhibition centre #10. Nurudeen Olowopopo way, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos with the theme (Public inquiry into possible violations of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018 (FCCPA) and Sundry Enactments and Guidelines).

Speaking with Journalists at the venue the Executive Vice Chairman of Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) Mr. Babatunde Irukera stated that the process is exactly what everyone is at the sitting and the law stipulating the roles of FCCPC and one of it is the power to  summon witnesses and take testimonies in the manner that they have and for the persons tender the summon, adding that the agency has to comply and fully make the topic the disclosable and that is the process as it is very important that all the witnesses of that process respect the laws setting up the process because if they do not  the agency would be disabled and in disabling the agency would actually disable the critical laws when are the protection frame work for the citizens.

Speaking further with journalists the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC said that by sense of processes in Nigeria is very vital to all citizens as a good manner of activity results and he said that one thing that he thought is more robust in any accountability frame work is the consequent management system and in the absence of consequence people would do anything, but, however, consequence are the most important modifier of human behavior and he thinks that consequence to comply the processes generally.

He said that it is certain in the skill and capacity of both the regulators and operators in Nigeria such that the entire large scale improves.

Speaking again with the journalists the Executive Vice Chairman Irukera stated that they had achieved a lot since the sitting began from Tuesday, June 16^th 2021 as he added that one of the most important thing in investigation is not necessary the outcome and he reminded the audience that an investigation is to determine what happened and what happened is not necessary if there violation of any, but it is

from an investigation that answers would come out, but most vital, is the process as he again noted that people focus a lot on the product instead of focusing on the process as and he says that people focus on the process that there would not any need to worry about the product because they already knew what the product is adding that this is exact reason why someone would give to a tailor two sets of fabric to design with right measurements and the tailor has been asked to make out exact design from the materials, but rather the tailor would come out with different style, because the tailor had focused on the product instead of the process, if the process is well managed there would be assurance of the product would be nice one.

He says that one thing is clear that every participant has learned enough from what the team has delivered since the sitting began despite that the committee has not been at the end yet, but just at the minimum of health care providers and but for all professionals including lawyers, accountants or any type of service provide naturally to recognize that there is standing order of mechanism that would scrutinize and second guess what they had done in how they do their work itself is a regulatory tool that would make people think through and improve their processes just as to assure themselves that if scrutiny ever occurred they do not need to be worried about the credibility and if that alone is gotten from the process, he says it a wining format and not

to mention the fact of the many of the things that were done are not necessary wrong as they could take a look as how things are done differently for instance the testimony of  about billing as someone was very responsive in reconciling an account for money that had been paid and so what the person went away with after the testimony yesterday is an important thing that they are doing this and that would enforce and institutionalized it as well as someone who was seated here would go and say that it important thing that they are doing this and let them go and start it and therefore institutionalize it, and there are many who are watching, who are not part of the process going on and who would say that there is something important going on here and there would start doing it and so that is what process does and so every piece of it and the outcome being the least of it to the society of one way or the other.

Speaking further with journalists the Executive Vice Chairman Irukera stated that premier has complied with all the documents required and as he says that they had noted one or two things in the process for the records and secondly the law already addresses the situations where the target of the investigations fail to fully comply with the requirements of the law, as the law allows the agency to make a reasonable and dependable decisions based on the evidence that they had, but beyond that is the fact that yesterday did very well, but, as a matter of fact is that his greater concern is about the absence of the set targets for an investigations, is not whether it compromises of investigations but, the ability of getting the right thing, to be done or is more about whether it compromises the agency, the regulators  can potentially encourage others to disregard the law or violate the laws and whether this would affect the ability of the regulator or the panel come to reasonable conclusion as one can see that an expert testified for hours after looking at those records and there is a family that testified and those records and in sometimes some of investigations end up without even oral testimonies and Irukera thanked God that FCCPC has been able to end up pleasantly with submissions generated from the two days sittings.

The Wednesday June 16^th 2021 sitting had a medical expert a born Nigerian Ayoade Akere who based at Atlanta in the United States of America gave an inspiring testimonies on health care issues and the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC Irukera did fire him with questions for a clearer elucidations so that the general public could be well informed.

Irukera promises the audience that the investigations shall further continue for the public good of all and sundry.
