CERTIFICATE ALONE CAN’T PUT FOOD ON ONE’S TABLE – BARR. SOLARIN

Speaking to the audience at the closing and exhibition ceremony for the year 2021 vocational skills acquisition training with a theme (Building Our Youths For Self-Reliance And Entrepreneurship) at Government Senior College Hall, Agege Lagos the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary for Lagos State Government Education District One Agege/Alimosho, Ifako-Ijaiye Barr. Mrs Solarri Margaret Titilayo stated that certificate alone can’t put food on one’s table adding that certificate is very imperative but, due to the hassles that are associated with Nigeria as a nation that one really needs to be heavily knowledgeably of skills acquission end entrepreneurship so that such a people would be to measure up with the challenges of life.

Speaking further to the audience of the audience of students, principals, vice principals teachers and the general public she stated that Nigeria like other developing nations is faced with a number of hassles, ranging from unemployment, high level of poverty, insurgency, conflicts and diseases, insecurity, over dependence on foreign made goods, low economic growth and development, lack of capacity and required skills to move the economy forward adding that unemployment has become a serious heek bedeviling the lives of the youths causing frustration, depression, dejection and heavy dependency on family members and friends.

She stated that the high level of unemployment surrounding the youths in Nigeria has largely contributed to the rate of increasing insecurity, violence and extreme poverty as she added that emphasis is basically tilting away from the general education that encourages mere acquisition of certificate to skill based education which largely centres more on what they can do. She says that vocational skills acquisition would make one self-sufficient and independent and as well as motivate one on daily bias to develop something new which in turn would benefit the nation adding that vocational skill is as valuable as water is to humanity to serious mended human beings. She says that it is not that people are not aware of these vocational programs and their significance, but that they need to widen their scope of thinking regarding their career choices.

 

Speaking again to the audience she says that for Nigeria to be economically self-reliance that the youths must be heavily encouraged to embrace through skills employment through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, self- reliance and financial empowerment as she added that, that is why they have taken the initiatives to make their students future entrepreneurs. She says that she hopes that their students who are fortunate to be part of this  training would build up on what they have learnt adding that she thanks the Governor MR, BABAJIDE OLUSOLA SANWO OLU and his team for the opportunity to carry out the training.

 


Speaking with journalists Director, Co- curricular Science and Technology Department, Education District ONE Agege Mrs. OMOAKA LUCY EMIKE stated that she is full of praises for her boss the Tutor General Permanent Secretary Of Education District one Agege BARR. SOLARIN who largely supported the skills acquisition training of the selected students, who had three weeks skills acquisition training in the following courses, soap making, cake baking, tie, dye and bleaching for Adire, decoration and make up gele adding that through the Ministry of Education the He/ She governor of Lagos- State supported the programs as materials for training the students were provided by the Lagos- State government free of charge as she added that the skills acquisition training would make the beneficiaries entrepreneurs in future.

 

Speaking with journalists, the principal of Model Junior College, Meiran Mrs. OLAJUMOKE ADESANMI stated that the skills acquisition is very laudable event that would make the students that got the training for the past three weeks adding that the skills acquisition training would make them total children with all round basic academy and skills acquisition background adding that the He/ She governor of Lagos- State SANWO OLU has pleasantly prepared the students for the challenges ahead of them She also praised her boss BARR. SOLARIN for her unimaginable supports she has contributed to the huge success the event recorded.

 

Speaking with Journalists, the principal of Lagos Baptist Senior Secondary School, Orile Agege, Lagos MR. SOFOLAHAN KOLAWOLE MICHEAL stated that the skills acquisition training is very imperative one because some of the trainees are his students which makes him very pleasant adding that he personally extends his uncommon appreciations to the governor of the state SANWO- OLU, and his team and the Tutor General Permanent Secretary Education District One Agege, Lagos, Barr. SOLARIN for all their unflinching supports rendered for the huge successes the skills acquisition recorded.

 Speaking with the Journalists the principal of Keke Senior High School, Ifako –Ijaye and as well as Chairman ANCOPSS ifako- ijaye Zone stated that it is very salutry and salutable to grace up the closing and exhibition ceremony of skills acquisition and entrepreneurial training for the students from education districts one, Agege, Lagos adding that she prays that the beneficiaries would be able to continue what they have learnt at home because practice makes perfect. She says that her boss Barr. SOLARIN has really shown the uncommon love to all and sundry as regards the skills acquisition training and that is why they call her mama.

 

Speaking with journalists, the Director School Administration district one, Agege Lagos ADESINA OLUYEMI stated that his department is in charge of total academy training of the students, but, he largely believes that the skills acquisition training is indeed a welcome idea and ideal adding that these days that there are no employments as it used in the past, that the skills acquisition programme is really apt and timing for the beneficiaries, their parents and their entire society because by so doing lots of street urging have been pleasantly removed from the streets.

 

The instructors or facilitators that taught the students are all recognized and commended for all round good job they did. The students themselves demonstrated the practical aspects of all they were taught during the training period to the full admiration of all the guests who also learnt from them. The most interesting practical is that of soap making which the best teacher in Lagos State MR. ODUNAYO JOSEPH taught them.
