Arrest of Fake Vigilante Members, Recovery of Fire Arms, Ammunition

Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline at the Edo State Command Benin City, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Edo State Command, Benin City SP Chidi Nwabuzor states that on the 21st of July, 2022 at about 19:30 hours, one Sunday Tyazenda, Ta Sharp Ayofe and  David Bitrus were arrested along Ihama Road, Benin City by members of Edo State Security Network for conducting  illegal road block, stop and search duty with weapons adding that they were brought to the Anti-kidnapping and cyber-crime unit alongside with their offensive weapons (1) one double barrel gun, (2) One Single Barrel Gun and (3) One live Cartridges.

Speaking further the PPRO of Edo State Command, Benin City SP Nwabuzor states that Suspects confessed during interrogation that they were employed as Security Guards by one Sam Sonwu to man Rest in Hotel along Ihama Road, G.R.A, Benin City adding that they did leave their beats to form illegal road block along Ihama road with a view to extorting monies from unsuspecting road users.

Speaking further the PPRO of Edo State Command, Benin City SP Nwabuzor states that on the same 21st of July, 2022 at about 21:00hrs, some members of Edo State Security Network intercepted two persons (i) Sunday Ayofe, male, age 35 years old (2) Richard James, male age 28 years old in Edo State Security Network Uniform conducting stop and search duty along Country Home Road, Benin City adding that the suspects were arrested and brought to the Anti-kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit for investigations. 

He states that during interrogation, that it was revealed that Sunday is a Vigilance member attached to Upper Sakponba Unit adding that he did leave his area of jurisdiction for illegal beat to form road block, stop and search at Country Home Road with intents and purposes to extort monies from the citizenry and road users.
