DO NOT PUBLISH REPORTS THAT ARE NOT BALANCED ---COMRADE ALENKHE

Speaking as the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council at the Main Auditorium Hall of NUJ Oguola Press Centre No 1 Reservation Road, GRA, Benin-City at the one day submit for the media INEC, Security Agencies Leadership Candidates for Political Parties and other stakeholders in the forth coming general elections of 2023 with the theme (Roadmap to Credible, Transparent and Peaceful Election in Edo State) Comrade Festus Alenkhe states that reporters should as a matter of objective professionalism that such reporters should balance their news items before going to bed adding that when a fake news is reported to the general public that such an unbalanced news items may trigger unhealthy reactions. 

Speaking further to the gathering Comrade Alenkhe says that reporters should always display adequate professionalism when covering election at any particular polling unit (s) adding that reporters should not announced the results of elections when INEC personnel have not officially announced the said to the general public. 

He says that the whole essence of the One day submit for Media Practitioners is to pragmatically, effectively, efficiently and assiduously sensitize the Media Practitioners of the uncommon rationale of reporting of accurate and balanced news items adding that the Journalists in the state have lots of responsibilities laid upon their shoulders of monitoring the forth coming general elections of 2023 with good mien and candor. 

Speaking to the audience the General Manager Radio Nigeria Bronze FM and National Trustee Zone F Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde who stood in for the National Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Chris Isiguzo states that Comrade Isiguzo did send his goods felicitations to all and sundry adding that all reporters should always balance their stories before publishing to the general public. 

She says that Comrade Isiguzo has accepted to be physically around on the October 4th, 2023 at the official launching of the Edo Chronicle Magazine at the Royal Palace of His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo. 

Speaking to the gathering the State Commissioner of Police CP Abutu Yaro whom is represented by James Chu of operations department states that all hands must be on deck to make sure that there has to be credible, transparent and peaceful election in Edo State adding that there has to adequate sensitization of voters and publicity ethics within the breadth and length of the state. 

He says that much is expected from police to cover before, during and after elections adding that there are challenges that are facing the police to tackle and challenges like accrediting personnel, arrival of election materials at polling units, conducting some persons during election proper et’al. He says that there has to be collaboration of all other security agencies so that there shall be heavy credibleness during the election et’al. 

He says that he commends the leadership of NUJ Edo State Council for putting up the One day submit for the Media Practitioners and other stakeholders adding that such programmes should be done from time to time and he also added that the media is the banner with which people react to the public. 

He says that National Orientation Agency (NOA) should largely be involved in the election matters adding that there has to continuous enlightment of voters education and publicity in Edo State. The One day submit did give room for Political Parties and her candidates to address the audience on their individual take homes on the purviews of the One day submit, one of such candidates is honorable Sir Ezehi Igbas of Labour Party and who is jostling for the Green Chambers at NASS Abuja for Esan North-East, Esan South-East Federal Constituency. 

The INEC representative Tmidi Wariowei did give a long narrative of the INEC has done since 2021 till date adducing that they have made access to voters expansion, creating new polling units from 2,627 to 4,519 thereby 1,892 additional polling units and that they have registered 52,013 voters in Edo State.

Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline Comrade (Dr) Mrs. Osayuki Epelle- Asemota a candidate of Green Chambers under platform of Labour Party for Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West Federal Constituency states that the theme of the One day submit (Roadmap to credible, transparent and peaceful election) is really apt adding that many women stay from voting exercise because of the violence nature that is always associated with politices  et’al. 

she advises that electorate should vote wisely and vote their minds regardless whose ox is gored. Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline a candidate of the Green Chambers at NASS, Abuja under platform of Labour Party Oredo Federal Constituency Engr. Esosa Iyawe states that he believes in the grace of God that the electorate of Oredo Federal Constituency would cast their votes in his favour because if he is elected, he concurs that he will give his people effective representations et’al. Mr. Okoubor Markus Mckane gave the vote of thanks thereby bringing the One day submit to a close.
