I Will Appeal To The Ministry To Keep Up The Exercise – Hon Olanrewaju

Speaking to the gathering at the ground floor of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industrial (LCCI), Alausa , Ikeja, Lagos of the Ministry of Mines and Steal Development Compliance Department, Sensitization Workshop and Town Hall Meeting on Environment Obligations of Mineral tittle holders chairman Miremco Hon. Sesan Olanrewaju and who also represented the Executive Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo- Olu states that he will appeal to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development Abuja to keep up the exercise of holding regular sensitization and town hall meeting with mineral tittle holders, community, the state and the federal government at large adding that in Lagos State they are managing what they have on ground because, they really got to manage the human resources they have. 

Speaking further to the audience the Governor’s representative and chairman of Miremco states that before he became the chairman of Miremco that there has been issues of environmental degradation that they have now come to address by the officials of the ministry adding that there has to be an harmonious relationship between the miners and communities and as well as the state herself. Hon Olanrewaju states that the miners must critically and objectively impose the condition and wellbeing of the communities of where the miners work adding that it is in that law that the miners should adequately adhere to the laws of the land thereby providing the necessary facilities to make life livable and habitable for the members of mining communities. 

Speaking again to the audience he states that they have three zones Epe, Badagry, and Ikorodu and that when the town hall meeting shall be held again in future that lots of improvements, would have been achieved by both the miners and host communities adding that before he came on board that there were serious challenges, but, as he speaks to the audience, he largely informed them that there has been tremendous improvements for all and sundry. 

He states that the message they are giving to the stakeholders is that one should abide by the laws of land that allow one to operate as a miner et’al. Speaking to the audiences as the guest lecturer Deputy Director at the Ministry of Miner and Steel Development Mrs. Esther Udoh did take time to elucidate to the miners their responsibilities to Community Development Agency (COA) adding that once the miners do largely keep their terms of agreement of operating other mining businesses or a particular host community that the CDA members would always allow them to do their businesses. 

She also spoke on fuel storage to the audience and when she finished her lectures, lots of question and comments were made by the stakeholders. Miner Salami Musibau attended the sentisization and Town Hall Meeting.
