BUHARI IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO ANYBODY----

PROF EBHOMIELEN

Speaking to the gathering as the 15^th inaugural lecture series lecturer at the University Auditorium of Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor Campus, University Way, Ugbor, G.R.A, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria with the lecture topic, Take Responsibility: Comprehensive, Accountability, Culture is Mandatory for All and Sundry, Professor of Accounting Prof Ehimen Pius Ebhomielen states that President Muhammadu Buhari is not accountable to anybody adding that PMB was the Petroleum Minister when the former President and as well as Military Head of State Chief Olusegun Obasanjo held sway and he also added that PMB has been the current Petroleum Minister since 2015 when All Progressives Congress APC began calling the shots at the Presidency Aso Rock Villa Abuja. 

Speaking further to the audience Prof. Ebhomielen states that the 15^th Inaugural lecture topic” Take Responsibility: Comprehensive Accountability Culture is Mandatory for All and Sundry concurs that anybody so appointed to head any sector of the system should pragmatically have all the indices of comprehensive accountability culture which is heavily mandatory for all and sundry in the society. 

Speaking again to the gathering he says that the whole essence of the lecture is to address poverty in Nigeria, whereas there are quality people and abundant resources, yet there is extreme poverty in the land adding why should there be poverty in the system if all the abundant resources are available and quality people. 

Speaking further to the crowds he states that he has identified four things which are comprehensive absence of accountability, postmortem auditing, even if forensic auditing is still postmortem auditing, adducing that there has to be prevention of irregularity not to happen, that is the culture, he says that there are communities where cars are parked outside and those cars are not stolen because those communities have culture that is why the criminals cannot steal the parked vehicles. 

Again he states that the fixated nature of looking for accounting and financial data do not show true meaning of accountability, rather a system of cash flow has been done adding that cash flow is not accountability, rather it is the cash that came in. He says that accountability is the duties placed on one’s shoulder as mandated by an authority.  

He says that his message for lawyers and this message is been sent out to them with all sense of responsibility and respect that this local standards do not apply to accountability that nobody is relegated to the background because they have subjected themselves to their lordship. 

They subject people to pay taxes and these taxes have paid and yet no tangible and meaningful investments for the downtrodden masses. He says that it will be proper if the lawyers themselves show heavy degree of accountability in their dealings with the general public adding that there are three mandates-Divine mandate, Constitutional mandate, and statutory mandate or processor mandate, concurring that nobody avoids divine mandate because God is the creator of the whole Heavens and Earth. 

Speaking with Iconblazemagazineonline a retired Professor of Chemistry from University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria Prof Bamidele Sanni states that he personally came to show solidarity to the 15^th Inaugural Lecturer Prof Ebhomielen happened to be an old boy of their school Annunciation Catholic College (ACC) Irrua adding that through providence they both worked at Benson Idahosa University and finally he gave up work from BIU. Prof Sanni says that Prof Ebhomielen is academically sound. He says that in the past that accountants hardly find themselves in the teaching profession, but now that Prof Ebhomielen is now a professor of Accounting of BIU. 

He says that accountability is very important in any given society so that people should stop stealing public funds with impurity adding that people are given monies to work and that they steal the monies without doing the work. He concurs that accountability should be properly adhered to by all and sundry. 

Speaking at the ICAN special recognition ceremony in honour of Prof Ebhomielen the ICAN Chairman Benin, Sharlywest Uwabor Eboigbe states that they the members of ICAN Benin Chapter are actually proud of Prof. Ebhomielen who delivered his 15^th Inaugural Lecture with lucidness and dexterity to the audience. 

He used the occasion to encourage the accounting students of Benson Idahosa University to be serious with their studies adding that by the special grace of God of Prophets and Apostles that they are really studying a worthy course for future developments and applications.
