EDUCATIONAL NEWS EDO NMA GIVES PRIZES TO THE BEST MEDICAL STUDENTS AT AAU INDUCTION CEREMONY

Observing the time honoured tradition of the medical profession, the college of medicine Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, had her induction ceremony earlier in the week where about a hundred young medical students are to be recognised as members of the medical profession during the ceremony.

Speaking with her remarks, the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Edo State/South -South Caucus, Dr. Imoisili Udoka appreciates the Provost of the college of Medicine AAU Prof. GBS Iyalomhe for all the sacrifices he made in the paste to ensure that these students are medical graduates today.  Accordingly Dr. Imoisili state that the Registrar of MDCN Dr. T.A.B Sanusi has been up and doing with his duties, whereby she poured him accolades for listening to the voice of reasoning and allowing this event to take place, despite the shortcomings of the school. She appealed to all stakeholders to ensure that the medical training in AAU meets the requirements of MDCN.

Speaking again she said, today as you inductees end the lighting of the candles of celebration while several jobs offer beckon, remember not to lose your life while taking care of others, especially with the acute shortage of medical doctors in the republic.  The NMA Chairman Dr. Imoisili advised the young doctors to take care of their health. While admonishing them to be good citizens and that they should uphold the physician's pledge "take Care of your health, know when to take a break and call for help, she added, stating that Edo NMA will stand up to her responsibilities and fight for their welfare.

She adviced the young doctors to be active in NMA as this is the only sanctuary of safety in the medical profession.

She announces the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira Only (₦100,000) as Edo NMA's prize for the best graduating student and Fifty Thousand Naira Only (₦50,000) being prize for the best male and the best female graduating students respectively.

The inductices are issued with customised Edo NMA Identity cards. While the NMA ties are presented to some outstanding students.

These acts of Edo NMA are greeted with standing ovations from the inductees and well wishers.

On the delegation of the Edo NMA Chairman are: Dr. Collins Otoikhila- Secretary, Dr. Isoken Aikpokpo- Financial Secretary. and Dr. Sebastian Omenai, Antiquackery committee chairman.
