BY LEO EZEKIEL

Speaking as the special guest of honour at the Obidients Convention with the theme “Remember” to the throng of crowds of Obidients Movement Members of Labour Party (LP) at Joel Ogunaike GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party of general elections 2023 states that he is not desperate to be the President of Nigeria adding that he is really, really desperate to see Nigeria work for the uncommon benefits of all and sundry in the Republic.

Speaking further he states that he has personally come to unimaginably thank the Obidients Movement Members of Lagos State Labour Party for all the supports they accorded the Labour Party during and after the general elections of 2023 adding that the Obidients Movement Members of Lagos State Labour Party displayed heavy love and all that to the candidates of Labour Party by casting their votes for them when the general elections of 2023 did take place.

Speaking again to the audience, he says that Leaders should like and respect their followers adding that the followers cannot equally love the leaders with the same degrees of likeness, hence, human beings are specially made differently, but, he avers that when all the followers like all the leaders, that those leaders should throw in the towel and vacate the scene for other leaders with sharp and fresh ideas and ideals to steer the pendulum of the Leadership for the massive public goods of all and sundry.

He adds that the republic is a nation where wicked leaders call the shots regardless of what becomes of the citizenry adding that recently, the Accountant General of Nigeria went to hold a conference in London, where he alone did spend about N10 Million Naira only for ticket, which the same amount of monies could effectively erect three blocks of classrooms for children from his community.

He adds that when he called shots of Anambra State that he held his retreat at Hotel in Aguleri whereas some members of his cabinet suggested Dubai or Obudu Ranch. He adds that Leaders are not meant to be irresponsible with public funds because the funds are meant for the development and advancements of the citizenry. He adds that the citizenry are being affected with the hardship and hunger in the land regardless of political parties’ leanings.

He adds the price of bread is the same thing for all and sundry, rice, fuel, gas, building materials et’al. He generally appreciates the obedient Movement Members for their supports and as well as remind them of the herculean tasks ahead towards 2027 general elections. He goads all and sudry to deftly and critically remember all that did take place during and after 2023 general election, that those gaps should be closed for winning the next 2027 general election with good mien and candour.

He adds that there is no need accumulating wealth because all human beings came into the world naked and naked shall all persons return back to the seraphic realms. He adds that he has personally attended funeral ceremonies of Presidents, Governors and that none of these persons were buried with any of their personal effects.

Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour states that they have gathered today, Sunday, March 17th, 2024 to celebrate their one year anniversary of a hard-fought battle adducing that he is filled with a deep sense of gratitude for all and sundry. He says that the outcome of the general elections of 2023 may not have been what they hoped for, but, that their collective efforts have uncommonly, left an indelible mark on the political landscape of Lagos State.

He tells the audience that in the face of violence, suppression, and bigotry, they did stand united and unrelenting, even passionate in their commitment to a vision of a more inclusive and fruitful Lagos. He concurs that they fought not just for themselves, but for the millions of Lagosians who longed for a brighter future and deserve much better than what they currently got.

He adds that this is why it did not matter what they threw at them or the obstacles that laid bare in their part. He adds that they refused to submit. He asks about the audacity of Kayode Ishola in Somolu who was largely threatened by thugs in his polling unit because he did not want to vote for a Lagos that works for illegalities. And, again, he asks about the bravery of Chidinma a young educated hairdresser in Aguda who did refuse to be intimidated by those who claimed she did not belong.

He asks about the bravery of Kunle, Michael and Morris who did hold the line in Eti Osa and did push back against the agents of the State who tried to oppress them. He tells the gathering that these heroic and courageous efforts have uncommonly redefine the playing field in Lagos and have clearly ushered in a new dawn. He adds that they showed the kleptocrats in power that they are empowered citizenry, not subjects and it does not matter how long they (the so called leaders) have occupied the seat of government or how much they have stolen, their end is now much closer than they ever could have imagined.

He tells the gathering that when that date comes they will have no choices, but, heavily account for their stewardship. He says that they would have to elucidate how they lived in opulence when the ronds and streets are covered with darkness. He says that they would give account of how they squandered the commonwealth while homelessness and addiction surged.

He tells the audience that they are 36 members of Labour Party at the Green Chambers and they are in the minority adducing that the Hon Speaker of the House is a member of All Progressives Congress APC and the Deputy Speaker is also a member of APC. He tells the gathering that he has done palliatives for the electorate of Eti Osa with his own personal monies not Government monies.

He tells that as Ramandan Kareem is ongoing that he has personally earmarked some handsome monies to use as palliatives for about 13 Baales of Eti Osa and Constituents. He tells the audience that there is meeting before the house holds their sittings and as well as meeting after their house has risen. Speaking to the crowds with his submissions Hon Doherty of only Six month experience at the Lagos State House of Assembly did inform what wonderful roles he played at LAHA that the remaining 20 members of APC are always at a panicking level when he does his submissions on motions on the floors.

He tells the crowds that he still doing palliatives for the citizenry of Amuwo Odofin constituency with his personal monies despite that the court has wrongly removed him from LAHA adding that he is not involved in illegalities, but, he is working extremely hard to fulfill his mandates to his constituents.

He tells the audience that his names are still at INEC Portal, but, at Amuwo Odofin that his names are short changed adding that he has an uncommon faith in God of Peace and Love that he will reclaim his mandate when the right time comes. Speaking to the gathering as one of the panelists Hon Mayor John Echefu Member representing Oshodi and Isolo Constituency Two at Lagos State House of Assembly states that he was personally attacked by about 400 hoodlums on the day of the election adding that it is God Himself that rescued him from the shackles of the thugs.

Speaking further he says that his office was burnt down on the 1st of February, 2024 adding that they members of Labour Party downplayed the issues of security and he also added that come 2027 general elections that Labour Party will be fully prepared for the herculean tasks ahead with all seriousness.
